GOAL:

Is it correct to have AI and BI/Database extents on the same drive?

FIX:

No, this can result in data lose if a disk drive crashes.

A Probkup without all the AI extents will be missing data, and a database without a BI file will be corrupt and require a dump and load.

However, if the AI files are retained on separate disks from the database and bi files, it should not matter if an individual disk drive crashes. If the disk containing the AI files is lost, the complete database is still available and just the AI disks need to be replaced and reconfigured. If a disk drive containing either the database or BI files is lost, the database can be reconstructed using Probkup files and the AI file information.
