FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows 2000
Progress 8.3x
SYMPTOM(s):
Installation fails with "Cannot delete c:\winnt\system32\ProCtrl.cpl - error 13".
Cannot delete ProCtrl.cpl manually
ProControl will not start
ProService will not run
No Progress processes running
Computer rebooted
No Anti-Virus software running
Progress registry entries have been removed
Progress environment variables have been removed
CAUSE:
ProCtrl.cpl exists from a previous installation
FIX:
In order to install without error perform the following steps:
1) Reboot the machine.
2) Press F8 when seeing text "Press F8 for trouble shooting".
3) Start your computer in "Safe mode for Command Prompt".
4) Remove the ProCtrl.cpl file.
5) Retry the installation process.
