DRAFT COPY - Currently under review and edit.

INTRODUCTION:
=============
Customers have reported this error when the NLM database is running
over midnight on the day in the SPRING of the year when Daylight
Savings Time goes into effect.

PROGRESS ERROR NUMBER: ERROR TEXT: TYPE:
====================== ================================== =========
853 The clock has gone backwards.

POSSIBLE CAUSE OF ERROR:
========================

The Progress NLM database server gets it's time from Novell's CLIB.NLM
Information received from Novell's faxback system indicates that CLIB
(Netware version 3.1X) returns the wrong information to our NLM when
Daylight Savings Time goes into effect.

DOES ERROR INDICATE CORRUPTION: IF SO, WHAT TYPE
======================================== =========================
NO

CORRECTIVE MEASURES:
====================

The workaround is to set the Netware server's TIMEZONE parameter to
NOT contain any Daylight Savings Time parameter. The command is:
SET TIME ZONE = EST5
This command MUST be set without CLIB loaded. Therefore the command
should be included in the AUTOEXEC.NCF file before CLIB is loaded.
The line just below MOUNT ALL is fine.
