SYMPTOM(s):
Files in use by other processes error during the installation of additional Progress or OpenEdge license in Windows
The installation lists 15 .dll file stating that those are in used by some other process such as auth.dll, java.dll, etc.
FACT(s) (Environment):
AdminServer for 9.1D is stopped
Only ProVision is installed
Installing two additional progress licenses
Windows NT 32 Intel/Windows 2000
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
CAUSE:
Some of the .dll are still in the system memory. After changing the admin service starting mode to manual and restarting the machine, the installation worked fine.
FIX:
Change the Admin Service for Progress 9.1D to start manually so that rebooting the machine does not start the admin service automatically in the services window as follows:
In the desktop, click Start > Control Panel > Administrative Service > Services
After changing the Admin Services startup mode to manual, reboot the windows machine.
