Backup on NT Server
Using V8.1 (and lower) PROGRESS backup tools (PROBKUP), it is not possible to perform a backup directly to tape on the WinNT Server. You need to backup to a drive letter (i.e. A:, C:).
However, if you have a tape drive that can be mounted as a drive
letter, then backup to tape can be performed. Otherwise, you need to
backup to file (disk) first, then make a backup of the file.
With version 8.2 (and higher) of Progress for WinNT, it IS possible to backup and restore Progress databases directly to/from a tape device. (device \\.\tape0)
