Status: Verified

SYMPTOM(s):

Memory Violation (49) shown many times within log file, no protrace or core files are being generated.

No protrace or core files are available.

SYSTEM ERROR: Memory violation. (49)

FACT(s) (Environment):

All Supported Operating Systems
Progress/OpenEdge Product Family
OpenEdge Category: Language (4GL/ABL)

CAUSE:

The exact cause is unknown at the time of this writing

FIX:

Steps recommended to move forward:

1. Perform a database scan to check for database corruption. If errors are found then you need to fix those errors before proceeding.
2. Have the harddisks and memory checked for physical faults (a low level scan is required, checking hardware log files is not good enough).
3. Upgrade the Progress version to the latest version and apply the latest Progress Service Pack.
4. Upgrade the operating system version to a newer version (you will need to ensure that the operating system is supported by the Progress version that you intend to run on it).
