FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows NT 32 Intel/Windows 2000
FACT(s) (Environment):
WebSpeed 3.x
SYMPTOM(s):
Unable to download certain filetypes from webserver with WebSpeed
Internet Explorer gives error messages
Internet Explorer cannot download <filename> from <address>
Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later.
Text files can be downloaded/viewed properly
Office documents, PDF files cannot be viewed
Connection is via SSL (HTTPS)
CHANGE:
Changed WebSpeed configuration
CAUSE:
This is a Microsoft expected behaviour that occurs when no-cache has been enabled on the webpage and Internet Explorer has cache a version of the document on the PC
When Internet Explorer communicates with a secure Web site through SSL, Internet Explorer enforces any no-cache request and therefore Internet Explorer does not cache the file.
As a result the file cannot be opened.
FIX:
Remove the no-cache header or headers from the webpages.
