SYMPTOM(s):
Progress 9.1B NameServer, WebSpeed and/or AppServer brokers fail to start
AdminServer starts fine and jview.exe process is visible in the Task Manager
Using the -nojit parameter in the ubutil.bat, ubconfig.bat and JVMARGS registry key doesn't help
There are no log files generated and there is no exception file ads0.exp
Error 8171 reported in the admserv.log file.
SvcControlCmd.connectToService() failure: Unable to connect to the service process at rmi://<hostname>:20931/<AppService-name>(after 2 retries) (8171)
Using Pentium 4 with enabled HyperThreading.
CAUSE:
Pentium 4 HyperThreading causing the problem with broker startup.
FIX:
Disable the HyperThreading in the BIOS.
