Status: Unverified
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows NT 32 Intel/Windows 2000
SYMPTOM(s):
Empty folders created on the Server
Folders with names that look like registry keys (hex)
Folders created in the Progress root installation directory
OCX used in application
Folders only created in the Application directory
OCX registered on client's machine
OCX not registered on server
CAUSE:
Could be that a process is accessing the registry and creating a folder for the key or it could also be that a temporary file is needed by the application, so it creates a folder based on the key and then the temp_file, and when it's finished with the temp file it deletes it but not the folder. Exact cause unknown but it's something that Progress definitely doesn't do
FIX:
Download filemon and regmon from Sysinternals to find out which process is creating the files by matching the timestamps and foldernames.
