FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress 9.1C

SYMPTOM(s):

Strange error messages when -PendConnTime enabled

, in . (4890)

-12110 Error: (8506)

CAUSE:

When -PendConnTime was introduced in 91B, the appropriate promsgs hadn't been included to say that the parameter was enabled. We were falling through to some other messages instead, that were meaningless in this context.

FIX:

The presence of the messages doesn't indicate a problem.

In 91D the relevant message is included in the promsgs file:

Pending client connection timeout (-PendConnTimeout): <num>. (10357)

This is an informational message written to the database log file when a database broker is started. It indicates the maximum time in seconds the broker will wait for a remote (-S) client to connect to the server it was assigned, before it will release the resources being reserved for the client.
