Status: Verified
SYMPTOM(s):
The DLC environment must contain a valid directory/path (11002)
A Netsetup Progress client fails to start and displays error 11002
msgOpen: unable to open message file: PROMSGS
Progress service pack is 9.1D06.
Used a UNC mapping (\\machinename\sharename\subdirectory) for the DLC variable in their personalized ini file.
NetSetup for 9.1D on a 64 bit Windows 7 Virtual XP Pro 32 bit installation fails because UNC is used.
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.1D
Windows 2000
Windows 7 64 bit
OpenEdge 10.0x
CAUSE:
UNC mapping for netsetup clients are not supported
CAUSE:
9.1D does not support UNC so in order for the new NetSetup to function all client files that contain a path to a file, must be manually edited using Mapped Drive nomenclature.
FIX:
1. Do not use UNC mappings in variables. Change the DLC variable mapping to use a mapped drive (for example, G:).
2. Add a "\" at the end of the DLC entry in the progress.ini and in the
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PSC\PROGRESS\9.1D\Startup" and
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PSC\PROGRESS\9.1D\Startup" registry keys.
