GOAL:

In 9.1D, can the Progress Explorer and the Adminserver connect to each if they have different SP levels?

GOAL:

Can Progress 9.1D Progress Explorer connect to an AdminServer that is Progress 9.1D02 or greater?

GOAL:

Can a Progress 9.1D01 Progress Explorer connect to an AdminServer that is Progress 9.1D02 or greater?

FIX:

Prior to Progress 9.1D02, a Progress Explorer patch version that was different from AdminServer (and all the other components underneath) patch version

[i.e., Progress Explorer 9.1C06 - AdminServer 9.1C26]

never had any problems communicating with one another. However, it seems that starting in Progress 9.1D02, this is not the case. In Progress 9.1D02 the RMI stubs between the client and server are different when a service pack is applied, thus when a client (such as Progress Exp 9.1D) tries to connect to a server (that is Progress 9.1D02 or greater), the connection will fail with error:

error unmarshalling return: nested exception is:
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException
