SYSTEM ERROR: wrong BI blk, read <dbkey> from <dbkey> (1119)

This notebook entry deals with error 1119.

SYSTEM ERROR: wrong BI blk, read <dbkey> from <dbkey> (1119)

WHAT DOES THE ERROR MEAN?

The error message indicates that PROGRESS tried to verify that the
block that was requested was the block that was read, and that the
verification failed. This could either indicate that there is
corruption in the dbkey or block on disk or that the wrong block was
read into the buffer.

WHAT CAUSES THE CORRUPTION?

Both dbkey and buffer corruption can be caused by hardware failure
(disk, controller, firmware, etc.). If the error occurs while writing
to any tape device, the device also needs to be examined,

WHAT ARE THE CORRECTIVE MEASURES?

First, the hardware problem needs to be diagnosed. Check that all
types of write caching is disabled. Contact the hardware vendor for
the best course of action. Once the hardware problem is corrected,
the errors should be resolved.

OTHER SYMPTOMS?

This error is sometimes preceded or seen in conjunction with other
PROGRESS errors and sometimes hardware logs. The most common PROGRESS
error is the 1124.
