How to make the Primary broker a Secondary broker via Progress explorer tool.

FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress/OpenEdge Versions
Windows Server 2000
Windows Professional 2000
Windows Server 2003
Windows XP
Windows Vista

FIX:

Broker configurations are added underneath the defaultConfiguration icon. The first servergroup listed is, by default, the primary broker.

Changes should be made when the database is not running.

To change which servergroup is the Primary Broker may be accomplished in one of two ways.

When there are multiple servergroups in Progress Explorer the Primary broker is the first servergroup in the Explorer list. If this is not the desired configuration the servergroups must be edited to achieve the desired order.

To correct the order in which they are started the server groups musted be deleted or added in the proper order.

Example;

When the first servergroup in the listing is deleted, the next servergroup in the list becomes the primary broker by default.

If the deleted servergroup is to be retained as a secondary broker it must be added back to the servergroup list by selecting defaultConfiguration icon with a right mouse click and selecting the "New" from the menu items and create a new servergroup with the desired properties.
