GOAL:
Can a Progress installation directory be renamed on UNIX
GOAL:
Can a Progress installation directory be copied from another Progress installation on UNIX
GOAL:
Can I move a Progress installation on UNIX to a new directory structure?
FACT(s) (Environment):
UNIX
FIX:
Yes, the Progress installation can be rename, moved, or copied to a new location on UNIX.
However, Progress recommends that a Progress installation be performed using the proinst utility if you wish to change the location of the Progress install directory.
It is not recommended to change the location of the Progress install using an Operating System command because some scripts located in the $DLC/bin directory hardcode the Progress Install path. By modifying the installation directory name the links within these scripts would be broken. Progress recommends a reinstall of the product using the new desired path name instead.
