In Progress 9.x, there are two ODBC DataServer products and two SQL server DataServer products
ODBC Personal
ODBC Enterprise
SQL server 7 Personal
SQL server 7 Enterprise
The only difference between the two is that the ODBC (or SQL server7) Enterprise has the broker capability in it. Meaning, if your client is separate (on another machine) from the DataServer license, then you would need to access the foreign datasource through the broker features. Both licenses ship the same drivers and come with the same 4gl features.
However, there are some other components that are different between the two, for example, The ODBC (SQL server 7) Enterprise DataServer comes with Progress Explorer and ODBC Personal DataServer does not.
