SYMPTOM(s):
Error 8297 8044 when restarting AppServer broker
Error 8297 8044 when restarting webspeed broker
Unable to start asbroker1 (8297)
Could not listen on port: <portNum> (8044)
java.net.BindException: Address already in use
Netstat shows port in BUSY or LISTENING
FACT(s) (Environment):
Appserver broker was previously killed
WebSpeed broker was previously killed
All Supported Operating Systems
WebSpeed 3.x
Progress 9.1x
OpenEdge 10.x
CAUSE:
Port used by the broker process does not get released by the operating system immediately after the process was killed.
FIX:
Choose one of the following:
1) Restart Server machine to release port and restart broker
or
2) Change port number from broker configuration and restart broker. Note that if ou choose this option and you are connecting WebSpeed Broker directly bypassing the Name Server you will need to change the port number on the messenger configuration as well.
