SYMPTOM(s):
Appserver server processes randomly shut down with error 8047
accept() on port <portNum> failed: <IOException_string> (8047)
accept() on port 2550 failed: java.net.SocketException: Interrupted system call (8047)
When error 8047 is resported in app server log file 3 times, the app server broker then has to be restarted to make the broke functional again.
CAUSE:
This is a problem with libsocket on SCO/Caldera Unixware 7.1.1 running Java versions 1.2.2 or Java 1.3.
FIX:
Upgrade to Progress 9.1D, apply Progress' 9.1D01 service pack (or higher), use Caldera's 1.3.0_02 JDK and apply the Caldera Unixware 7.1.1 M3 patch, which can be downloaded from the following location: ftp://ftp.caldera.com/pub/unixware7/uw711pk/
