GOAL:
Can I develop Webspeed applications on Linux using a Windows interface?
GOAL:
How can I develop my WebSpeed applications on a Linux machine?
FIX:
As long as the Linux machine has access to a browser, you can develop WebSpeed applications. However there are some limitations to be aware of when working with WebSpeed licenses on Linux/Unix.
WebSpeed Workshop license is not available on a Unix machine, it's only available on Windows system. The WebSpeed licenses that are available on a Unix system are either;
WebSpeed Development Server license
WebSpeed Transaction Server license
WebSpeed Enterprise Transaction Server license
When using the following licenses, please note that you can create and/or update WebSpeed applications through the browser based tools, WebTools.
WebTools allows you to access information on your machine, such as the status of CGI Variables. You can also access database information, use the WebSpeed File tools, and access ProMon reports. You can use the Scripting Lab to write and test WebSpeed code, such as HTML that includes Embedded SpeedScript, and send operating system commands. With the Editor WebTool, you can create, open, save, and print files; check syntax; and compile code. When working with the Web based interface essentially you are working on the server (where the agents reside), doing local development.
Please note that these licenses;
The WebSpeed Development Server license
WebSpeed Transaction Server license
WebSpeed Enterprise Transaction Server license
do not come with AppBuilder. This means that you will not have access to pre-created WebSpeed templates and scripts that allows users to build WebSpeed applications easily. Without these templates/scripts, you will need to create all programs from scratch using the browser based tools, WebTools.
