SYMPTOM(s):
Cannot access database with Progress tools (PROMON, PROSHUT etc).
Multiple messages "Exceeded maximum message size while processing message 96" followed by "Exceeded maximum message size while processing message 49"
Progress was running at the time of the swap.
DLC directory located on mirrored volume.
CHANGE:
Hot-swapped one disk of a mirrored (RAID 1) set containing the DLC directory.
CAUSE:
Access to the DLC directory are disrupted during the swap and/or shared memory becomes corrupted, possibly because the new mirror has not been fully restored yet or was not properly synchronized.
FIX:
Reboot the server. While a drastic measure, this ensures shared memory is cleared and the disks are re-synchronized.
Also, it's advisable to scan the database for corruption.
