FACT(s) (Environment):
IIS 6.0
IIS 7.0
Windows
OpenEdge 10.x
Progress 9.1x
Using IIS 6.0 to host the WebClient installation files
Using IIS 7.0 to host the WebClient installation files
CAUSE:
IIS prevents the download of the files having non-registered MIME types.
Some of the WebClient installation files have type extension that
has not been registered as the known MIME type in the IIS 6.0.
FIX:
1. Open up the IIS Management Console, right-click the master node, and then click Properties.
(this can also be configured for an individual virtual directory of IIS -- commonly a virtual directory named web_image)
2. Click MIME Types.
3. Click New.
4. In the Extension box, type one asterisk (*).
5. In the MIME Type box, type application/octet-stream.
6. Apply the new settings. IIS (or an indivual virtual directory if configured for one virtual directory) now serves all files regardless of the extension.
NOTE: You must restart World Wide Web Publishing Service or wait for the worker process to recycle for the changes to take effect.
