GOAL:
When changing OS is it necessary to reinstall Progress
GOAL:
Is it possible to just export the registry and import it in the new OS
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows
CHANGE:
One drive (C) is broker and one (D) has Progress installed, the C drive will be changed with a new drive with a newer OS
CAUSE:
Keep the definitions in Progress Explorer.
FIX:
You must reinstall Progress, the install procedure does more than just create registry entries, it copies and registers DLL's & OCX's plus other configuration settings. Also, the Windows Registry does not contain any information on the settings defined within the Progress Explorer, these are stored in the files ubroker.properties (unified brokers) and conmgr.properties (databases) within the %DLC%\properties folder. The following solution details how to perform this:
How to migrate conmgr.properties and ubroker.properties to new Progress install
