Messages are generated by the Windows File Protection system
The protected system file <filename> could not be restored to its original, valid version. The file version of the bad file is <Version>. The specific error code is <error-code>.
Files that are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the original versions of these files.
Insert your Windows <version> CD-ROM now.
Windows Event Viewer log contains the following entry:

Description:
The protected system file <filename> was not restored to its original, valid version because the Windows File Protection restoration process was cancelled by user interaction, user name is <username>. The file version of the bad file is <version>.
CAUSE:
The Progress installation utility copies some files to the SYSTEM32 folder. If the copied files are older than the files being replaced, then an operating system warning message may appear.
FIX:
Option #1
Insert the Windows CD to copy back the original system files. For more detailed steps, please refer to the article Windows File Protection and Windows on the Microsoft web site.
Progress recommends this option -- insert the Windows CD to copy back the original system files that have been replaced by the Progress installation utility.
Option #2
Choose Cancel when the dialog appears, and leave the files installed by the Progress in place.
