GOAL:

Can a client connect to an AppServer with a different service pack level?

GOAL:

What are the rules regarding Progress OpenEdge release, service pack and patch level for client connection to an AppServer ?

FACT(s) (Environment):

All Supported Operating Systems
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x

FIX:

Compatibility exists between same major version of the AppServer technology and Progress OpenEdge clients, unless ADM2 code is being used. The same service pack and/or patch level is required for the ADM2 folders. In case where the Progress OpenEdge client and AppServer versions differ in service pack or patch level, one must ensure that ADM2 files being used on both client and the AppServer are based on the same service pack and patch level.
E.g.
Client using 10.1C04 and AppServer has 10.1C02 installed. ADM2 files version deployed on the client and the AppServer must be the same: either 10.1C02 on both client and the AppServer, or 10.1C04 again on both sides.
