Retirement of Procedure Librarian tool after version 8.0A
Progress will no longer provide the Procedure Librarian tool in
future versions of Progress beyond version 8.0A. All files shown by
the Procedure Librarian will still be shipped with the product
including documentation code examples, icons, and utility .p files.
Code examples from our documentation set are available through the
on-line help system, or directly from the file system. Other files
will be available in the dlc\src\samples directory of the Progress
install area.
The Procedure Librarian is no longer required due advancements in the
Progress tools:
- The Roundtable source code management system allows you to
create a custom repository of the procedures that are important
to your development.
- New on-line help provides direct access to Progress code
examples.
The 4GL code and files for the Procedure Librarian in V7 are in the
$DLC/src/proclib directory. These files are not supported by PSC
beyond V7, but customers wishing to have functionality similar to the
Librarian as they migrate to V8 can copy the files from this directory
and modify them to be used with their new version.
