FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.x
Progress 8.3E
SYMPTOM(s):
-G (Before-image Cluster Age) database startup parameter is ignored
Progress ignore the -G 0 and reuse the clusters only after the default 60 seconds period.
Specifying -G 0 when start a database server, Progress should be able to immediately reuse a bi cluster if the cluster doesn't contains incomplete transactions. So the database bi shouldn't grow.
s-G is working fine with proutil
CAUSE:
-G (Before-image Cluster Age) has a minimum value of 60 seconds
FIX:
Can appear confusion between -G (Before-image Cluster Age) which has a minimum and default value of 60 and -G (Before-image truncate interval) which is a proutil parameter and has a default value of 60 seconds and a minimum value of 0 seconds.
