GOAL:
How can I determine if my customer is using a Progress 9.1x evaluation?
GOAL:
How to determine if the Progress 9.1x product installation is an evaluation license.
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.1x
UNIX
Windows
FIX:
All Progress Software (tPC) evaluation licenses have a specific expiration date listed within the Progress configuration file. This expiration date is based off of the original product installation. Whereas, licensed products do not have a an expiration date listed within their Progress configuration files. For example, a licensed Progress product will display "NONE" in the "Expiration Date" field, whereas an evaluation license will display the specific date when the evaluation period will end. To determine which type of product license you are running, you will need to review the progress.cfg file.
On UNIX, perform the following steps to review the progress.cfg file:
1) Set the DLC environment variable
DLC= <location of install>; export DLC
2) Next, execute the following Progress command:
$DLC/bin/showcfg $DLC/progress.cfg
On Windows, perform the following steps to review the progress.cfg file:
1) Go to Start->Programs->Progress->Config
2) Review the "Expiration Date".
