Errors when entering Serial Number, Version, or Control No's
If a customer receives an error message such as:
1. Serial number, Version, and/or Control number is invalid
2. Control number is invalid for this version.
3. Serial number/control number mismatch
the following are some reasons and/or solutions:
1. The customer may have typed an incorrect letter or number. For
example, the customer may have typed the letter "o" when he should
have typed the number "0" (zero). Verify the control number using
the "What Components" option off the "esc-c" menu.
2. The label on the media may be incorrect. Verify the serial number
and version and control numbers using the "what components" option
off the "esc-c" menu.
If the control numbers that we show do not match the ones the customer
has, give him the new control numbers and see if that will get the
customer through at least the first part of the install.
