SYMPTOM(s):
Win32 Character Client Performances Problem
CAUSE:
Progress Software has discovered that the Win32 Character Client software experiences unusual performance problems when running on Windows 95. Progress Software Technical Support has replicated the problem and found its source. The slowdown is not caused by any Progress software; the ·code· for the Win32 Character Client is exactly the same on Windows 95 and Windows NT, yet the problem only appears on Windows 95. The performance problem has been duplicated using non-Progress software (C programs).
Microsoft·s implementation of the Windows 95 CONSOLE is the reason for the slow performance of the Win32 Character Client on Windows 95. Progress is unable to make changes to this code and has contacted Microsoft about this problem. Microsoft has not promised to correct the defect.
FIX:
Progress will continue to work with Microsoft to resolve this issue. However, Progress can not guarantee that the problem will be resolved.
