Dynamic Linker Problem on SGI - libnsl.so
This knowledgebase entry addresses the following error messages
on version 7 on Silicon Graphics platforms:
Cannot map 2499: /disk3/progressdb/bin/_progres :
rld: fatal error: cannot map soname 'libnsl.so
This will impact those customers with Silicon Graphics platforms who
do not have a network license for their o.s.
Customer can work around this in the following way:
1. Customers can run their character mode Progress Client
applications by resetting PROEXE to $DLC/bin/_probuild:
# Bourne shell users
$ PROEXE=$DLC/bin/_probuild; export PROEXE
# C-shell users
$ setenv PROEXE $DLC/bin/_probuild
There is no workaround available for the Progress Motif
Client.
2. Customers who wish to "probuild" a new "PROGRESS CLIENT"
or "SMALL PROGRESS CLIENT" executable can do so only if
if they also select the "NO DEBUGGER COMM MODULES" option
off the probuild "Configurable Elements" screen.
