GOAL:
Roundtable. What is the prescribed method to change a product module for an object.
FACT(s) (Environment):
Roundtable
FACT(s) (Environment):
Dynamics 2.0A
FIX:
You cannot change the product module for an existing object directly - as this is part of the primary index that stores objects as being unique. However, you can MOVE the object to a new product module. This can currently only be done from RTB - which will then replicate through to the ICFDB database.
If the object has not yet been checked in and is still on version 01.00.00 - then you can delete the object from RTB and re-create it under the new module. If you answer NO to delete the object from the repository, re-creating the object in RTB should result in the product module being updated in the ICFDB.
Otherwise you have to create a "custom variant" of the object. There are 2 ways of doing this:
1. Select the object under a valid task (make sure it is checked in) and create a NEW object, with the SAME NAME but with the new product module. This will create a new object in RTB (new because you have changed one of the elements of the primary key for objects in the RTB repository) in the new product module - the change will be replicated through to ICFDB.
2. If there is more than one object to be moved, use the Group Check-Out tool from RTB and "check-out" the objects to a new product module. The result is the same as above - the steps are just a little different.
