GOAL:
Requirements for connecting non-Progress UNIX (ODBC) client to Progress database on Windows
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.x
FIX:
1. The UNIX platform concerned needs to be one on which Progress supports SQL-92, since this is what the driver uses. Progress SQL-92 isn't supported on all UNIX platforms. These platforms can be checked in the Product Availability Guide. Info on current supported platforms and configurations can be found under:
http://www.progress.com/support
Click on the link for Product Availability Guide.
2. If the platform is one on which Progress supports SQL-92, then an appropriate Progress licence can be installed - e.g. Client Networking. The ODBC libraries are then installed when a Complete installation is done, or can be selected during a Custom install.
