CAUSE:
The bit field is a new feature in SQL server 2000 while tinyint exists in both SQL server 7 and SQL server 2000. In order to maintain backward compatibility, tinyint is used.
FIX:
The problem does not impact functionality of MS SQL dataserver and is scheduled to be fixed in V10.0A.
