GOAL:

How to restore a previous version of Progress 9.x or OpenEdge 10.x service pack?

GOAL:

How to revert to the version that was installed prior to applying a Progress 9.x or OpenEdge 10.x service pack?

FACT(s) (Environment):

All Supported Operating Systems
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x

FIX:

During the the installation routine of a Progress service pack, the user is prompted as to whether they want to backup their existing installation files. If the user chooses yes, the backup routine will only copy the files being replaced by the service pack. These files are copied to another location on disk. The default Windows location is %DLC%\spbackup, while $DLC\spbackup is the default UNIX location. This directory location can be changed by the user during the application of the service pack.

In Windows, to restore the previous installation, stop all Progress processes, copy and paste the root of the spbackup folder (including its subdirectories) back to the %DLC% directory.
In UNIX, use a recursive copy of the spbackup folder back to the $DLC directory:
cd <path-to-backup-directory>
cp -R * <Progress-install-directory>
To restore ONLY the pervious version of the OpenEdge Architect. Go to HELP -> Software Update -> Manage Configuration -> Revert to Previous.
