NLM Installation Release Notes - Hardcopy Insert for v6.2M
Version 6 Release Notes
Product: NLM Server
Operating System: DOS
Version From: 6.2
Version Through: 6.2
August 1992
PROGRESS NLM Server
INSTALLATION
The NLM Server software must be installed in SYS:\DLC on your NetWare file
file server. If you also install PROGRESS client software on the file
server, then you must install it in a different directory specified
during the client installation. Otherwise, the installation process
will overwrite the NLM software.
To install different variations pf PROGRESS (either RUNTIME, PADS,
4GL, etc.), you must create separate installation directories. For
example, you could install PADS into VOL1:\PADS\DLC and QUERY/REPORT
into VOL1:\QR\DLC.
To control access to the different products after installation, you
might want to set different search drives on each of the workstations.
For example, if you have two workstations (A and B), you might set the
search drives so that workstation A runs PADS and workstation B runs
Query/Report.
On workstation A, you could type the following command:
MAP INS s1:=VOL1:\PADS\DLC
And on workstation B:
MAP INS s1:=VOL1:\PADS\DLC
You should then set the PROGRESS environment variables accordingly.
STARTING THE SERVER
When you start an NLM server on the file server console, you cannot
use drive letters (for example, F:) to denote the path of a database.
The file server does not recognize drive letters. A typical command
would appear as follows
LOAD _MPROSRV VOL1:\APPS\DB\SALES -S DBSRV
