UNIX named pipes and system hang on Sun
This situation involving UNIX named pipes caused the UNIX system to
hang. Several processes had been running on the system for months.
A new process was added which added two named pipes. This process
caused the system to hang. After this was analyzed, it was
determined that the kernel parameter governing the number of FIFO
pipes needed to be increased. The last two pipes that were added had
put the number over the current limit.
