Solution ID: P2568
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 8.x
SYMPTOM(s):
Procopied the live multi-volume db.
Tried to start the procopied db.
SYSTEM ERROR: Attempt to read block <number> which does not exist. (210)
SYSTEM ERROR: Attempt to read block <0> which does not exist. (210)
PROCOPY was done into a single-volume structure.
Checking the db file sizes showed that the .db was at 2GB limit.
CAUSE:
The Version 8 multi-volume db exceeded 2GB in size, which prevented it being procopied into the single-volume structure. PROCOPY copies db contents, but not the structure. In Version 8, unless a multi-volume structure is created beforehand, PROCOPY creates a single-volume db.
FIX:
Make the backup db a multi-volume structure as well.
