CAUSE:
This is an expected behavior in Progress 9.1x and 10.0x
FIX:
Adjust SQL-WIDTH via Data Dictionary
In Progress 9, select the menu Options -> SQL Properties
and
In OpenEdge 10, select the menu Options -> Adjust Field Width
