SYMPTOM(s):

LK file not freed after shutting down the DB

Access violation (sharing violation) while trying to remove the lk file.

CAUSE:

Customer has stopped the Server while some user processes were still running and the lk file is not freed by the Operating System

FIX:

Some processed are still marking in the Operating System that the lk file is accessed by one or several processes.

In way to free the lk without rebooting the Server, go in the Server and the clients to the task list and remove all the prowin32 processes that are still accessing the DB while the Server has been stopped.

This will mark at the OS level the LK has not been accesed by any process and will allows you to restart the DB Server.
