GOAL:
How to migrate the DS (directory service) to another machine with different hostname and IP
FACT(s) (Environment):
SonicMQ
FIX:
There is no supported method, however the easiest way to move the DS to another machine should be as follows:
1. shutdown all containers
2. perform an install on the new machine using the same domain name and
security settings for the broker
3. remove the DS storage directory from the new install (the DS storage
directory will root at a directory with the same name as the domain name
under the initial install directory)
4. copy the DS storage directory from machine A to the new machine's
install directory
5. use the steps in SonicMQ V5 Configuration and Management Guide
(Connecting Off Line, pg 67) to connect offline to the DS to make the
acceptor changes to the broker configuration and to modify the container
configurations to point to the new location of the management broker
6. regenerate (through the SMC) and deploy the container bootfiles for all
the containers
7. restart the new container that hosts the DS
8. restart the other container (machines B & C)
Machine B and C should not be using a DS boot file (ds.xml).
