GOAL:

How to change the default Progress working directory on Windows

FACT(s) (Environment):

Windows NT 32 Intel/Windows 2000
Progress 9.x

FIX:

1. Back up the %DLC% directory and the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PROGRESS key

2. Shutdown all Progress services and programs

3. Create a new working directory and copy the contents of the old directory into it

4. In %DLC% edit the %DLC%\installd.ini file workDir entry to point to the new working directory

5. Search %DLC% for all instances of the original working directory and replace them with the new one

6. Run regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PSC\PROGRESS

7. Left click on the 9.x folder icon and edit the WorkPath variable to point to the new directory

8. Go to Start - Programs - Progress9.x - right click on each icon and adjust the Properties - 'Start in' entry to point to the new working directory location
(You can also do this from C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Progress 9.x)
