Status: Verified
SYMPTOM(s):
Invalid username and/or password specification. (9173)
Failed logging in user: . (8541)
Connecting to the AdminServer from the Progress Explorer.
AdminServer resides on a Unix machine.
AdminServer port does NOT have a conflict.
Username and password are correct.
Unix machine does not use NIS for userid/password validation.
Unix machine uses C2 Security or equivalent.
FACT(s) (Environment):
UNIX
Progress 9.1x
OpenEdge 10.x
OpenEdge 10.1x
CAUSE:
If you have C2 Security on your UNIX host, the AdminServer will not be
able to validate the username/password entered in Progress Explorer over the network.
This also applies to HP/UX "Trusted System" scenarios, since they are also C2-level security.
FIX:
Progress does not currently support UNIX systems using C2 Security for userid/password validation, therefore use of the Progress Explorer is impossible.
Use Progress command line utilities instead.
