SYMPTOM(s):
The client is disconnected from the database. He gets a error message:
A duplicate name has been detected on the TCP network.
The IP address of the machine that sent the message is in the data.
Use nbtstat -n in a command window to check which name is in the conflict state.
CAUSE:
This problem may have different causes but none of them related directly with Progress. They are related with Win NT/2000 OS.
FIX:
Use nbtstat -n in a command window to check which name is in the conflict state. The name refers to the NetBIOS name. The nbtstat -n will only work as long the conflicting machine is up and running.
