SYMPTOM(s):
Problem installing and uninstalling the Merant ODBC driver due to the permissions
User logged in is a member of Administrators group
Installation fails with error "Cannot write into Registry"
Uninstall fails with error "Cannot remove this entry from the registry"
CAUSE:
Registry permissions preventing deletion and creation even for the Administrator account.
FIX:
Log in as the local Administrator and start the registry editor and choose the registry entries:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\Merant ...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\ODBC Drivers
Choose 'Edit' -> 'Permissions' and add permissions 'Create Subkey' and
'Delete' for the designated user account.
