GOAL:
Analyzing Scatter Factor (from tabanalys) after a dump/load
GOAL:
How to analyze Scatter Factor from tabanalys or dbanalys after a dump/load of a 9.x database
FIX:
After a freshly loaded database, with no simultaneous load running, the Scatter Factor has its optimal value.
Within the V9 documentation we state:
A value of 2 indicates that the records are scattered 10 times wider than the ideal.
Should you want to have the lowest possible value for the Scatter Factor on a table, then move all the records of that table to a dedicated area; the indexes should be then within another area.
