SYMPTOM(s):
Installing Progress onto a UNIX machine, the following errors appear:
Installation write private profile error 539
Unable to write to the Progress ms-windows shared initialization file
A drive on the UNIX machine had been mapped so that it was visible from Windows machine.
Installation almost completes before errors appear.
CAUSE:
Installation of a Windows client was being attempted onto a UNIX machine.
Progress has dedicated releases for each platform - among other things, due to considerations such as shared files and shared libraries.
FIX:
Use the correct installation media.
