FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows NT 32 Intel/Windows 2000
SYMPTOM(s):
Using _progres.exe on a Windows server
Users are connecting to the Windows server via telnet
When they are in the Procedure Editor, hitting F3 to get to the menu then selects Tools / OS Shell causes the screen to go blank and hang
Using the 4GL command DOS also hangs.
CAUSE:
This appears to be a limitation in the Telnet Server for Windows 2000.
Attempts to use non-Progress tools to spawn a sub-shell within the connection to the Windows Telnet Server also failed.
FIX:
1) Review other commercially available telnet servers.
2) Contact MicroSoft Technical Support
