FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.1C
Windows 2000
SYMPTOM(s):
GPF when client interacts with Excel
User is disconnected because of a Prowin32 error
Access Violation in ntdll.dll process
Usernum terminated abnormally. (794)
protrace files all point to ntdll.dll
Exception code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION
Fault address: 77FCBCFC 03:00000CFC C:\WINNT\System32\ntdll.dll
CAUSE:
Bug# 20010821-029
CAUSE:
This is a known Progress issue with memory allocations occurring when an ambiguous find is done. The ambiguity buffer was not high enough to accommodate the maximum record size, therefore an attempt is made to pre-calculate the needed size of buffer once updates and new values are added to the record - due to fast schema change and conv89
FIX:
Apply the latest patch for Progress 9.1C or upgrade to Progress 9.1D
