GOAL:
Can an OpenEdge database be made read-only?
GOAL:
Is it possible to restrict a database to read-only access?
GOAL:
Is it possible to make a database read-only for clients while roll forwarding the AI files?
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
All Supported Operating Systems
FIX:
The database itself cannot be made read-only. Security may be set on individual tables to allow only reads (can-read) or clients may connect in single user mode with the -RO parameter.
If the database is a target of a replication mechanism based on AI files, it is suggested to use the OpenEdge Replication product. With OpenEdge Replication, the target database is kept up to date and clients to the target database are prevented from making any changes to the database.
