FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows
Progress 9.1B
MERANT 3.60 32-BIT Progress SQL-92
SYMPTOM(s):
[ODBC Progress driver][Progress] Invalid User Name
Error occurs when attempting to make an ODBC connection to a Progress 9.1x database via ColdFusion.
CAUSE:
The ColdFusion product wasn't passing the user's password to the Progress SQL92 engine.
FIX:
The ColdFusion product contains an area that allows a user to test an ODBC DSN connection (similar to the "Test Connect" option within the Data Direct ODBC driver for Progress). Within this area of the ColdFusion tool, a username and password can be saved. Once the username and password are saved, ColdFusion can then forward them to the Progress SQL92 engine, thus database access will be granted.
